Understanding Electrolysis

Electrolysis is a method of permanent hair removal that treats each individual hair follicle using a fine sterile probe. The probe is gently inserted into the natural opening of the hair follicle, the follicle is treated, and the hair is then carefully removed.  Because hair grows in different stages, multiple treatments are necessary to achieve permanent results.

Electrolysis is the only FDA-approved method of permanent hair removal. Electrolysis is safe and effective for all skin types and hair colors. Each treatment is personalized to your individual needs and goals

Common Questions

Is electrolysis safe?

Yes. Electrolysis is a safe and effective method of permanent hair removal when performed by a qualified electrologist using proper infection-control and sterilization practices.

How many electrolysis sessions will I need?

The number of treatments varies for each individual and depends on factors such as the treatment area, hair growth cycles, density, and previous hair-removal methods. A personalized treatment plan will be discussed based on your individual needs and goals.

What is the difference between electrolysis and laser hair removal?

Electrolysis treats each individual hair follicle using a fine, sterile probe and is effective regardless of hair color or skin tone. Electrolysis is the only FDA-approved method of permanent hair removal. Laser hair removal reduces hair growth by targeting pigment within the hair and is generally most effective on darker hair. Laser hair removal is not considered a permanent method of hair removal.

What are the side effects?

Temporary redness, tenderness, or mild swelling may occur following treatment and typically subsides within a short period of time. Proper aftercare will be reviewed to help support comfortable healing.
